Bio
Avani Lekhara was born on 8th November 2001 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is an Indian Para-Shooter and she is currently ranked as Number 5 in 10m Air Rifle , SH1 category. She became India’s first women to won gold medal at Para-Olympics and has also won several medals at Paralympics.
She has won her gold medal at 202 Tokyo Paralympics and a bronze medal at the same event in 10m and 50 m standing air rifle.
She is currently aged 22 and has achieved many milestones in her life and has also inspired many people through her struggle in her life. Even after having Paraplegia which means immobility in lower limbs she has struggled in her life and won many medals and has inspired such people to have success in life.

Who is Avani Lekhara and her story
Avani was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India and currently her age is 22 years. Her father’s name is Praveen Lekhara and her mother’s name is Shweta Lekhara.
At the age of 11 years her life twisted all over and changed when she met with an accident. In 2012 Avani was travelling with her father from Jaipur to Dholpur and they met with an accident. In that accident her father got minor injuries and also recovered fastly but it was a painful accident for Avani as her spinal cord was broken and her lower body was paralyzed. From that day her life became worse and her dreams broken and shattered.
But Avani was a scholar in her school and nothing would stop her from chasing her dreams. So soon she started to recover and started practising Archery on her father’s suggestion as she was going through mental trauma due to paralysis, because she could not play like her friends used to.
But here also she failed many times in archery could not do well in this but later on she decided to shift to Shooting.
Now in 2015 after getting inspired from Abhinav Bindra she joined the Jagatpura Sports Complex in Jaipur. After joining she started practicing and became master in shooting and started competing at school, district, national level championship and bagged many medals at these levels.
She came to highlights in 2017 Al Ain Para Shooting World Cup which was held in United Arab Emirates (UAE) where she won silver medals. That day was when her life totally changed and now you can see where she is.
Career
Lekhara has won many medals at all the levels such as Olympics, Asian games, and at other internationals levels. She is the 1st Indian women to won gold medals at the Paralympics. Lekhara won 1st Gold medal at the the Summer Paralympics 2020. In September 2021 she became the first women Paralympian after winning two medals at the Paralympics in 50m air rifle standing event.
