A database of Palm Resources.Belonging to the family Arecaceae, the palms are monocots and have 202 described genera with about 2779 species.There is a need of Conservation and utilization of significant important palms.Evaluation of relationships among palms through molecular and morphological tools could provide some intersting insights to their phylogeny and its classification. A detailed study of the palm would provide a base for their future utilization in plant breeding programmes based particularly on their tolerance to various stresses.This database would provide genomical approaches and taxonomical details of Palms


Coconut and Oil palm putative gene annotated database would provide the blast results and gene information of EST & Contigs of above crops.


Many genes and proteins are playing an important role in plantation crops. Dehydrin , DREB (Binding factors & transcription factor), Heat shock protein, LEA-Late Embryogenesis abundant, LTP- Lipid transfer protein, MAPKINASE - Mitogen activated protein kinase,SERK- Somatic Embryogenesis receptor kinase, SERK-Somatic Embryogenesis receptor kinase, WRKY- Transcription factor and14-3-3 protein are found an important proteins and genes in plants. These proteins & genes sequences retrived by navigation menus of respective genes and proteins from this database.


This database would provide the details of 267 SSRs in Coconut.Data entry provision also made to add new results. By entering the name of the SSR one can reterive the results of each coconut SSR.

This information system would provide the details of Microbes which were involved in Biocontrol agent, Bioinoculants,Decomposers and Edible Mushrooms on plantation Crops. Coconut Disease Database - Developed with the help of Mr . M. GUNASEKARAN, Scientist (Selection Grade), (Pathology),CPCRI, Kasaragod.

Coconut Disease Database [CDD] consist of three databases - 1. Leaf rot causing Colletotrichum,Exserohilumdatabase. 2. Basal stem rot causing Ganoderma database 3. Bud rot causingPhytopthora database. This database would provide nucleotide sequence, protein sequence and literature search of the following disease causing organisms - Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Exserohilum rostratum, Phytopthora palmivora, Ganoderma applanatum, Ganoderma lucidum. Search can be done by simply typing the organism name or Accession No of sequence submitted.

This database consist of Passport data, germination, plant morphology & genetic characteristic data, copra yield and oil data of 181 indigenous accession and the pictures of around 89 coconut cultivars.We can retrive the result by selecting the name of the cultivars from drop down menus.

Coconut cultivar Identification - Developed with the help of Mr . K.DEVAKUMAR & Mr M.K RAJESH, Scientist (Biotechnology), CPCRI, Kasaragod.

The coconut cultivar identification is a web based database. This database was desinged using presence and absence of binary data of isozymes like EST, PPO, PER, MDH, GOT, ADH. The data canbe fed in the text box to match with exsisting cultivar database.The coconut cultivar database is searchable on accession data, morphology, reproductive biology, harvest data, fruit characteristic and biochemical traits.

Pest Control Management System   Developed with the help of Dr. K.SUBAHARAN , Scientist (Senior Scale),Entamology,CPCRI, Kasaragod.

This system would provide the information on coconut major pests of Rhinoceros beetle, Red weevil, Leaf eating caterpillar, White grub, Coconut eriophyid mite and minor pests of Coried bug, Mealy bug, Slug caterpillar, Green caterpillar, Nut borer, Shot hole borer, Termite and rodents. Information on other vertebrate pests like Palm civet, Wild boar and Monkey are also provided.From the fly out menus user can select any pest and it will display lifecycle, infected host, damage, management and image thumbnail galleries. Along with this pest database, a provision is made for the literature search by using keywords.

CORPK Database - Protein kinase of coconut, oil palm and rice: V. Arunachalam, Zareena Banu, Saritha. S, Sreesmitha. V, Nishad. KP.

CORPK is a database based on 902 nucleotide sequence and 2022 amino acid sequences of protein kinases. The databse provides information on the base composition, amino acid composition, codon usage pattern, predicted secondary structure of protein kinase genes of coconut, oil palm and rice. Information on SSR, SNP CAPS markers and their primers/enzyme sites, designed siRNA candidates, miRNA homologues are also provided.

Germplasm Database

1.Coconut Germplasm Database -Developed with the help of Mr. M.K RAJESH, Scientist (Biotechnology) & Dr.V.ARUNACHALAM Scientist (Senior Scale), Horticulture, CPCRI, Kasaragod.

2.Arecanut Germplasm Database - Developed with the help of Dr.K.S.ANANDA, Senior Scientist (Horticulture),CPCRI,Regional Station,Vittal.

This database consist of a total of 140 arecanut accessions collected through various sources, which are being maintained at field gene banks of CPCRI, Regional Station, Vittal, Karnataka. Out of which 117 indigenous ecotypes of arecanut were collected from different parts of India as well as 23 exotic accessions introduced from other areca growing countries of the world especially South-East Asian countries. Growth and yield characteristics were described and documented. The introduction of germplasm and evaluation has been so far significant which resulted in release of high yielding varieties through selection and also contributed much to locate donor parents for desirable traits, which are being exploited in breeding programmes. Details of the above can be retrieved by choosing appropriate subject in this germplasm database.

3.Cocoa Germplasm Database - Developed with the help of Dr.(Ms).S.ELAIN APSHARA, Scientist (Horticulture),CPCRI,Regional Station,Vittal

This database consist of descriptor data of 158 Cocoa accessions collected through various primary & secondary sources, which are being maintained at field gene banks of CPCRI, Regional Station, Vittal, Karnataka and Research Centre, Kannara, Kerala. Morphological and yield characteristics along with photographs and bio chemical constituents are being listed for each accession. Details of breeding programmes conducted at CPCRI are also being given. We can retrieve the results by selecting the accession name/ Nos. from drop down menus.
